Grant Description

The Region 2 Refuge Roads Program (RRP) is a US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Transportation Program that partners with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), State DOT’s, and County DOT’s to provide transportation services for wildlife refuges throughout Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. Region 2 RRP will fund the replacement of the bridge and improvements on the alignment over Panther Creek, at the intersection of County Roads N2080 and E0980 in Custer County, OK. The project will reopen access to public and private lands providing passage over Panther Creek which has been closed since May of 2007. Replacement of the bridge will benefit the public and the Refuge by improving public access to the Washita National Wildlife Refuge Auto Tour Route, provide all-weather access to the south end of the Refuge, and provide access for local agricultural traffic.
