Grant Description
Section 29(a) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (7 U.S.C. 2036) authorizes the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) to provide grants on a competitive basis to State agencies to strengthen recipient integrity activities in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). A total of up to $7 million in Federal funding will be made available for the SNAP Recipient Trafficking Prevention Grant Program, contingent upon availability of funds. Grantees may use grant funds for the duration of the project period. FNS intends to fund multiple grants under this RFA in order to maximize the benefit to State agencies. The number of grants awarded will be dependent on the quality and nature of the grants received. The goal of the SNAP Recipient Trafficking Prevention Grant Program is to improve outcomes for State agency activities devoted to recipient trafficking prevention, detection, and prosecution. Funds from this RFA are for new projects and shall not be used for the ongoing cost of carrying out an existing project.
