Grant Description
The National Historical Publications and Records Commission seeks proposals to develop new strategies and tools that can improve the preservation, public discovery, or use of historical records. Projects may also focus on techniques and tools that will improve the professional performance and effectiveness of those who work with such records, such as archivists, documentary editors, and records managers. Projects must anticipate results that will affect more than a single institution or a single state. If your project is focused on a single state, the proposal narrative must explain why the State Historical Records Advisory Board in your state cannot manage the proposed project. If staff review cannot confirm that the project includes the information, the application will be ineligible. Projects concerning records may focus on methods of working with any format including born-digital records. Publishing of historical records must focus on methods of presenting archival records as primary sources. The Commission does not fund projects focused on artifacts or books. For a comprehensive list of the Commission's limitations on funding, please see What We Do and Do Not Fund (http://www.archives.gov/nhprc/apply/eligibility.html).
