Grant Description

The Office of Press and Public Diplomacy of the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for a cooperative agreement to administer the Social Entrepreneurship Capacity Building program. This program seeks to build the ability of NGOs and other social entrepreneurs in the countries of South and Central Asia to create sustainable business models for their organizations. The countries of South and Central Asia are: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. This program reflects and supports the foreign policy goals of the United States. SCA seeks proposals from nonprofit organizations for the development and implementation of this program. Once the award is made, the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs will coordinate with the implementing partner on the participating organizations to receive capacity building. For each organization receiving assistance under this grant, the implementing partner will be required to conduct an assessment of the organizationмs current capacity and sustainability, develop an improvement plan with clear milestones, and guide the organization in the implementation of that improvement plan. Organizations receiving capacity building from the recipient under this grant may operate on a non-profit or for-profit basis. Areas which may require improvement include but are not limited to strategic planning, operational planning, marketing/fundraising, market analysis, and/or financial management.
