Eligibility is open to all non-profit, non-governmental organizations. Organizations may sub-contract with other entities, but only one, non-profit, non-governmental entity can be the prime recipient of the award. For profit entitles are not eligible to be the prime recipient of an award under this NOFO. When sub-contracting with other entities, the responsibilities of each entity must be clearly defined in the proposal. Per Section D, applicants must submit proof of their non-profit status with their proposal submission (e.g. proof of 501(c)(3) status, Afghan NGO license). Applications that do not include proof of non-profit status will not be considered. Individuals are not eligible for an award under this NOFO. Please refer to Section D for funding restrictions.

Grant Description

This cooperative agreement will fund a Model UN Conference in Kabul, Afghanistan. This award will create opportunities for between 120 and 150 university students (ages 18 to 30) from four to five provinces across Afghanistan to develop important skills including public speaking, critical thinking, and in-depth research as they prepare the delegations. Through the process of preparing for and participating in the Model UN conference in Kabul, delegates will learn how the international community acts on its concerns about topics such as peace and security, human rights, the environment, food and hunger, economic development, and globalization.
