Grant Description
The U.S. Mission to NATO invites not-for-profit, non-governmental organizations and think tanks that focus on international affairs, defense and security issues, and U.S. and European relations to submit project proposals which will encourage public discussion and creative public engagement in Europe on the major theme of ЯThe Future of NATO: From Wales to WarsawН. Grant(s) will be made on a one-time basis. The duration of programs may vary depending on the proposals, but the length of the project funded should be no longer than two years. Awards will be granted only if appropriated funds are allocated to the United States Mission to NATO by Department of State central budget authorities. We are looking forward to working with partner institutions to discuss the implications of the outcomes of the 2014 Summit in Wales leading to the 2016 Summit in Warsaw. Projects should promote one or more of the following themes: - Implementation of the Readiness Action Plan (RAP); - The Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF); - The NATO-Russia relationship; - NATO and the Southern Flank; - Defense spending; - Interoperability and collaboration with partners; - NATO capabilities; - Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD); - Joint Intelligence Reconnaissance and Surveillance (JISR) ; - Maritime cooperation; - Women in peace and security; and, - NATO and emerging global threats. Additional goals include combating misinformation and delivering clear messages about the importance of the NATO Alliance and its mission to a broad audience including the general public, youth and future leaders, the security and defense community, policy makers and opinion shapers in European countries. We are hoping to stimulate new ideas and to encourage public dialogue on the priorities for the NATO in the upcoming years. The activities funded with a Federal Assistance Award (Grant) up to $60,000 might embrace (but should not be limited to): - Public debates, conferences, round tables and discussions; - Seminars, trainings, workshops; - Public awareness campaigns; - Informational/educational interactive activities; - Public education projects; - Competitions. Please note: all activities should be targeted at European audience and should take place in Europe. We encourage: - New and creative approaches that utilize digital technology, social media and other innovative means; - Programs that seek to reflect the diversity of thought and background as well as gender balance. Applications must be completed in English and be submitted in a pdf format. Applicants must use the Application for Federal Assistance SF-424 and the standardized project proposal which can be found on USNATO website and in the application package.
