Grant Description
-Purpose. The National Institutes of Health invite applications to establish the PROMIS Technology Center (PTC) as part of the PROMIS Network. The PROMIS Network is intended to be a resource for the clinical research community. The PTC will research, develop and provide computer administration services, including computer adaptive testing (CAT), web access to short forms, and other administration modalities of the PROMIS item banks in clinical research. The PTC will support not only the CAT and informatics needs of the PROMIS Network, but also will provide these services to the greater research community. Successful applicants will join a network of existing and new centers and sites to foster the advancement, development, and application of new technologies for the use of Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs) in clinical research by working collaboratively to achieve the goals of this NIH PROMIS initiative: (http://nihroadmap.nih.gov/clinicalresearch/overview-dynamicoutcomes.aspd). -Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the U54 Research Center Cooperative Agreement grant mechanism. It runs in parallel with two (2) other U54 RFAs with similar scientific scope, RFA-RM-08-022 and RFA-RM-08-025, and one (1) U01 RFA RFA-RM-08-023. -Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. The total amount of funding from the NIH Roadmap for new awards under this initiative is approximately $600,000 total costs per year. NIH expects to make one award in FY09.
