Grant Description

Purpose. This FOA issued by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health, invites applications from investigators willing to participate under a cooperative agreement as the Data Coordinating Center (DCC) for the Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network (BMT CTN), a collaborative multicenter clinical program that promotes the efficient comparison of novel treatment approaches and management strategies for potential benefit of children and adults undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. This is an open competition for the renewal of an existing network. A single award for a DCC will be made. The awardee will provide medical, scientific, and statistical expertise, data management, as well as overall coordination, and regulatory and operational support for the program. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the U10 NIH Cooperative Clinical Research Agreement grant mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. NHLBI and NCI intend to commit up to $63.5 million over six years to fund up to 19 Core Clinical Centers with expertise in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and a DCC to support the program. Only one award will be made in response to this FOA. Investigators interested in applying as a BMT CTN Core Clinical Center should refer to the companion Request for Applications (RFA-HL-11-013) which describes the responsibilities of transplant centers.
