Grant Description
-Purpose. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to solicit research grant applications to conduct time-sensitive ancillary studies related to heart, lung, and blood diseases and sleep disorders in conjunction with ongoing NIH- or non-NIH-supported clinical trials. -Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Project Grant (R01) grant mechanism. -Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards.ÊThe NHLBI intends to commit approximately $1.6 million in FY 2009 to fund 4-5 new grants and $3.2 million in FY 2010 to fund 8-9 new grants under this FOA. Awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications.
