Grant Description
Purpose. This limited competition FOA issued by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) invites cooperative agreement applications from investigators participating in the Prenatal Alcohol in Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Stillbirth (PASS) Network for phase II. The purpose of this FOA is to invite applications to complete enrollment and follow-up and conduct primary data analysis of the Safe Passage Study to investigate the role of prenatal alcohol exposure in the risk for SIDS and adverse pregnancy outcomes such as stillbirth and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) including fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS), and how they may be inter-related. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Cooperative Agreement (U01) award mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. For this funding opportunity, the NICHD, NIAAA, and NIDCD have set aside a total of $5,451,000 in FY2011 for five awards. NIAAAs commitment is $ 1,167,000, NICHDs commitment is $3,864,000, and NIDCDs commitment is $510,000.
