Grant Description
The purpose of this cooperative agreement is to address the following research goals: A. To conduct field and laboratory research on important human infectious diseases, with an emphasis on HIV/AIDS, emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, neglected tropical diseases, tuberculosis, influenza and other respiratory disease, diarrheal diseases, zoonotic diseases and other diseases with epidemic and pandemic potential as well as Environmental Health issues, chronic diseases, Maternal and Child Health, Public Health Preparedness, Bio-Safety, and Injury Control and Prevention. B. To incorporate the results of research into operational health promotion, disease prevention and control programs in South Africa and ensure the sharing of expertise and research findings with other nations, non-governmental agencies and academic institutions.
