Purpose. The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) issues this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) to solicit Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant applications from small business concerns (SBCs) that propose to accelerate translation and/or commercialization of musculoskeletal and skin tissue engineering and regenerative medicine research. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the SBIR (R43/R44) grant mechanisms for Phase I and Phase II. This FOA does not support Fast Track applications. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. The estimated amount of funds available for support of 3-5 projects awarded as a result of this announcement is $1.5 million total costs for fiscal year 2010.
