Grant Description
Purpose. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the Office of Research on Womens Health (ORWH) invite new or renewal applications from single institutions and consortia of institutions to participate in the Asthma and Allergic Diseases Cooperative Research Centers (AADCRC) program. The purpose of this AADCRC Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support basic and clinical research on the immunological basis, pathobiology, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of asthma and allergic diseases and to accelerate the application of fundamental knowledge of immune function to the investigation, prevention, and treatment of asthma and allergic diseases. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the multi-project Cooperative Agreement (U19) grant mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. NIAID and ORWH intend to commit $12.4 million per year under this FOA and anticipates approximately 8 awards will be made in fiscal year 2011 and includes support for an Infrastructure and Opportunity Fund of up to $500,000 each year of the award.
