Grant Description

Purpose. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) issued by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH) invites Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant applications from small business concerns (SBCs) that propose to conduct translational research leading to development of therapeutic and diagnostic technologies for drug-resistant bacteria and eukaryotic parasites. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the SBIR (R43/R44) grant mechanisms for Phase I, Phase II and Fast-Track applications and runs in parallel with an FOA of identical scientific scope, RFA-AI-09-026, which invites applications under the R01 research project grant mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. The estimated amount of funds available for support of 5 projects awarded as a result of this announcement is $3 million in total costs for fiscal year 2010. Future year amounts will depend on annual appropriations.
