Grant Description
This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits research grant applications that define molecular and cellular targets mediating alcohol effects at concentrations of 10 mM and below. It has been well established that alcohol at relatively high concentrations modulate a variety of receptors and ion channels, intracellular signaling cascades, and gene expression in the brain. Significant knowledge gaps, however, remain in understanding how the brain responds to low doses of alcohol and what molecular targets mediate alcohol action at concentrations below 10 mM. The purpose of this FOA is to support research efforts to identify targets mediating effects of low-dose alcohol at molecular, cellular, and circuit levels.
