Grant Description
In 2011, Reclamation and Portland State University (PSU) entered into a cooperative agreement whereby PSU is to develop a temperature model of Lake Roosevelt, created by the Grand Coulee dam project. Development of this model affords the ability to evaluate operational and structural alternatives that can influence the regulation of water flow and temperature. It also has the potential to inform in-season watershed management decisions to reduce take, consistent with Section 14.5.2 of the 2008 Federal Columbia River Power System (FCRPS) Biological Opinion (BiOp). The benefit to constructing a temperature model of Lake Roosevelt allows for the future inclusion of other biological and water quality constituents. Additional funds are required for further evaluation of this project. Therefore, it is Reclamations intent to provide additional funds to PSU to perform peer review of multiple temperature model runs of Lake Roosevelt and Grand Coulee Dam. Peer review of model runs helps insure quality assurance and quality control (QA-QC) of Reclamationуs modeling effo
