Grant Description
The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) intends to issue a cooperative agreement to California Department of Fish and Game, under the authority of catalog for domestic assistance (CFDA) 15.512, Central Valley Project Improvement Act, Public Law 102-575, Section 3406(b)(1) and (2). Estimated amount: $1,347,534.00. Reclamation proposes to provide financial assistance to continue support for field sampling, special studies, and data syntheses focused on determining the causes and consequences of the abrupt declines in the abundance of several pelagic fish species, including the listed delta smelt, observed in 2002. To date, there has been no recovery of population densities, and there is as yet no clear explanation of the causes for the declines. The objective is to investigate and determine the magnitude of the apparent decline in pelagic fishes and zooplankton in the Estuary. (Refer to the Notice of Intent to Award Announcement No. R10AS20029 for additional information.) A Determination by the Government not to compete this proposed financial assistance based upon Departmental Manual 505 DM 2, paragraph 2.14(B)(2) & (4) is solely within the discretion of the Government. This notice of intent is NOT a request for competitive proposals. Questions concerning this announcement should be directed to Mary Sims/Grants Officer, by email at msims@usbr.gov.
