Grant Description
1. Programs will benefit refugees in Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Yemen. Activities may include the local host population, however, NGOs should concentrate on care/maintenance activities for refugees in the camps/settlements. At least 50% of beneficiaries must be refugees. NGOs are encouraged to submit proposals that supplement UNHCR or host government services. Proposals may focus on protection, health, water, sanitation, shelter, education, community services, psychosocial support, livelihoods development and training, gender-based violence prevention and response, and HIV/AIDS prevention and response. 2. PRM will accept proposals from any NGO that is able to satisfy these guidelines although, given our budgetary constraints, priority will be given to proposals from organizations that can demonstrate: • a working relationship with UNHCR and 2008 UNHCR funding and/or support for the proposed activities and/or overall country program; • a proven track record in providing assistance to refugees in both the sector(s) and specified location(s) covered in the submission; • evidence of coordination with the host government and other international and non-governmental organizations working in the area of activity (please note PRM will share budget and project activity information with appropriate ministries, local officials, and other USG entities); • appropriate targeting of beneficiaries in coordination with UNHCR, the host government, and other relevant organizations.
