Grant Description
Purpose. This FOA, issued by NINDS and NIDDK, promotes new interdisciplinary collaborations by researchers in neuroscience and in diabetes/metabolism to further understanding of the mechanisms by which the CNS controls glucose levels and the consequences to the CNS of derangements in these mechanisms. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Project Grant (R01) award mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. A maximum of $750,000 in first year direct costs is available with the anticipation that two to three new R01 awards will be made per year for the 3-year duration of this FOA. Because the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will also vary. The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend upon the quality, duration, and costs of the applications received.
