Grant Description

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) will support applications that address the long-term (five-year minimum) clinical outcomes of bariatric surgery using large datasets within healthcare delivery organizations. Clinical outcomes of interest to NIDDK include obesity, body composition and obesity-related complications within the NIDDK mission such as diabetes, metabolic liver disease, kidney and urological diseases. NIDA is interested in supporting those applications that examine the trajectories of substance use and associated high-risk behaviors among persons who have received bariatric surgery. The funds will also provide support for a prospective element to the grant to acquire additional clinical measures or add elements to the current database to acquire outcomes described above.
