Grant Description

Through this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), the Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities (CRCHD), the Division of Cancer Biology (DCB) and Division of Cancer Prevention (DCP), at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), encourage grant applications from investigators interested in conducting basic, mechanistic research into the biologic/genetic causes of cancer health disparities. These cooperative agreement research awards (U01) will support innovative studies designed to investigate biological/genetic bases of cancer disparities, and may include the development and testing of new methodologies and models, secondary data analyses, and mechanistic studies of identified biological factors associated with cancer disparities, including those related to basic research in prevention strategies. This FOA is also designed to aid and facilitate the development of a nationwide cohort of scientists with a high level of basic research expertise in cancer health disparities research who can develop resources and tools, such as biospecimens, cell lines and methods that are necessary to conduct basic research in cancer health disparities.
