Grant Description
Purpose:The overall goal of NIH-supported career development programs is to help ensure that a diverse pool of highly trained scientists are available in adequate numbers and in appropriate research areas to address the Nation's biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research needs. The purpose of the NINR Mentored Research Scientist Development Award for Underrepresented or Disadvantaged Investigators (K01) is to provide support and protected time (three, four, or five years) for an intensive, supervised career development experience in the biomedical, behavioral, or clinical sciences leading to research independence. Mechanism of Support: This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) will utilize the NIH Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (K01) mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards: The total amount to be awarded by the participating ICs and the number of awards will depend upon the quality and merit of applications received and the availability of funds.
