To be eligible, the parent award must be active and the research proposed in the supplement must be accomplished within the competitive segment. The proposed supplement must be to provide for an increase in costs due to unforeseen circumstances. All additional costs must be within the scope of the peer reviewed and approved project. IMPORTANT: The research proposed by the NIH grantee in the supplement application must be within the original scope of the NIH-supported grant project.

Grant Description

The National Eye Institute (NEI) announces opportunities for investigators with active NEI-supported research grants (R01) and cooperative agreements (U10) to request 1 year of supplemental funding in FY 2012. NEI has identified specific areas of interest in accordance with the goals of the recently convened Program Planning Panels as defined in Vision Research in 2011: Needs, Gaps and Opportunities (http://www.nei.nih.gov/strategicplanning/).
