Grant Description

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) issued by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), National Institutes of Health, invites applications that propose basic, clinical, and translational research on chronic kidney disease (CKD) and its consequences in aging and in older persons. Applications should focus on the 1) biology and pathophysiology of CKD in animal models; 2) etiology and pathophysiology of CKD in older adults; 3) epidemiology and risk factors for the development of CKD with advancing age; and/or 4) diagnosis, medical management and clinical outcomes of CKD in this population. Research supported by this initiative should enhance knowledge of CKD and its consequences in older adults and provide evidence-based guidance in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of CKD in older persons.
