Grant Description
The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to encourage pilot and preliminary research on (1) organizational and/or systems-level interventions that may optimize access, utilization, delivery, quality, and/or cost of treatment services for drug, tobacco, or alcohol abuse or dependence through the use of evidence-based practices; (2) organizational and/or systems-specific adaptations to existing evidence-based practices necessary to facilitate their implementation in these new contexts; and (3) novel service delivery models to be pilot tested in preparation for larger-scale effectiveness trials. This R34 award mechanism provides resources for assessing the feasibility, acceptability, utility, and sustainability of novel approaches to service delivery for drug, tobacco, or alcohol abuse or dependence, with the ultimate goal of facilitating the uptake of scientifically-supported clinical practices. This FOA supports pilot and preliminary research on service delivery models, and organizational or systems-level interventions. This FOA will not support developmental or efficacy studies for novel preventive interventions or clinical therapies, nor will it support efficacy studies on the adaptation of existing interventions for new client populations.
