Grant Description
-Purpose. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to strengthen and revitalize scientific research on the prevention of unintended pregnancies in the United States.ÊThe Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) invites R01 research grant applications that will inform interventions addressing the cultural and structural factors that produce high rates of unintended pregnancy across the reproductive age span, especially in low-income populations in the United States. These interventions can operate at a wide range of levels, from clinical interventions to interventions that influence cultural, economic, social, structural, and/or policy factors contributing to unintended pregnancy. -Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the R01 grant award mechanism and runs in parallel with a FOA of identical scientific scope, PA-09-015, that solicits applications under the NIH Exploratory/Developmental (R21) grant award mechanism. -Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. Awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications.
