Grant Description

-Purpose. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) issued by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), National Institutes of Health (NIH), solicits grant applications from institutions/organizations to conduct research on the effects of alcohol-related public policies on health-related behaviors and outcomes, evaluations and analyses of the effectiveness of public policy measures in improving public health and reducing the burden of alcohol-related illness and mortality, and research to advance methods and measurement used in studying relationships between alcohol-related public policies and health-related behaviors and outcomes. -Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Project Grant (R01) award mechanism and runs in parallel with two FOAs of identical scientific scope, PA-07-429 and PA-07-428, that solicit applications under the R03 and R21 mechanisms. -Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. Because the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will also vary. The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend upon the mechanism, numbers, quality, duration, and cost of the applications received.
