Grant Description
Surveys are needed to determine the geographic extent, current viability, and long-term trends of rare plant populations in Mesa Verde National Park (MEVE). Many areas of suitable habitat have yet to be surveyed along the steep canyonsides in MEVE. In 2016, MEVE and Colorado Natural Heritage Program (CNHP) staff will determine what parts of the park still need to be surveyed using geospatial tools and produce a map to facilitate prioritizing and guiding survey locations and routes. MEVE and CNHP staff will conduct surveys in portions of the potential remaining habitat for these species on NPS lands and update historical occurrences.
