Grant Description
This program model encourages preservation of public lands through education and stewardship activities. Girl Scout engagement with educational and volunteer-service activities is important for the immediate and future preservation of public lands. The Girl Scout Ranger Program creates opportunities for Girl Scouts to become natural environmental leaders by applying their learning to national parks. This partnership between NPS and GSUSA is a vehicle that will create a pathway for Girl Scouts to experience public land management through field-based learning and exposure to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) careers related to natural resource management, thereby helping to create a land ethic and cultivating environmental stewardship.
