Grant Description

This scope of work addresses the need to conduct research to identify, document, and assess ethnographic resources within or near Stones River National Battlefield. Broadly described, the Ethnographic Overview and Assessment (EOA) will be conducted to provide baseline data on traditionally associated groups, the park resources with which they are associated, and description of the traditional uses of and associations with these resources. This study will be completed by a qualified cultural anthropologist (or under the supervision of a qualified National Park Service (NPS) anthropologist) who will review existing information and identify additional data needs. Following NPS guidelines, the researcher will review, summarize and evaluate existing information derived from published and unpublished (archival) sources, supplemented by ethnographic interviews with knowledgeable members of associated groups and families.
