For the Recovery Act Tribal Coalitions Program, only existing tribal coalitions with valid articles of incorporation are eligible. Grantees that plan to apply for Federal Fiscal Year 2009 Tribal Coalitions Program funds are eligible for Recovery Act Tribal Coalitions Program funds but must propose activities that are separate and distinct from those proposed in their 2009 applications.

Grant Description
Program Overview The OVW Recovery Act Tribal Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalitions Program (Recovery Act Tribal Coalitions Program) provides much needed resources for organizing and supporting efforts to end violence against Indian women. These coalitions can help meet the goals of the Recovery Act through the technical assistance they provide to member programs. Statutory Program Purposes By statute, funds under the Recovery Act Tribal Coalitions Program may be used for the following purposes: • Increasing awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault against American Indian and Alaska Native women; • Enhancing the response to violence against American Indian and Alaska Native women at the tribal, Federal, and state levels; and • Identifying and providing technical assistance to coalition membership and tribal communities to enhance access to essential services to American Indian women victimized by domestic and sexual violence.
