Eligible applicants are practitioners or researchers in the victim service field with extensive knowledge and experience related to the provision of services (organizations are not eligible to apply). Applicants should have considerable expertise on the funding and administration of victim assistance and compensation programs and the major challenges, developments, and needs in the victim service field. Applicants must demonstrate substantial knowledge of data and research related to victimization and victim services and the skills to communicate orally and in writing with a broad audience of stakeholders. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in statistics or survey methodology. Applicants must be willing to commit a substantial portion of their time over a 24-month period to work with BJS and OVC on translating BJS statistical data for increased utility in the victim service field. The Fellow will be expected to work onsite in Washington, DC on a full-time basis. OVC may elect to make awards for applications submitted under this solicitation in future fiscal years, dependent on the merit of the applications and on the availability of appropriations. Grant Description

OVC estimates that it will make one award of up to $500,000 for a joint fellowship program with BJS focused on the translation and dissemination of statistical data used by the victim service field. The individual awarded funding under this fellowship program will work with both OVC and BJS to improve the synthesis and translation of social science research and statistical findings to inform practice and policies in the victim services field.
