Grant Description
USAID/OFDA’s Program for Enhancement of Emergency Response (PEER) is a regional training program initiated by USAID/OFDA in 1998 to enhance disaster preparedness and response capacities of vulnerable countries within the Asia region. PEER was first implemented in four countries: Nepal, India, Indonesia and the Philippines. PEER Stage 2 started in 2003, continuing and expanding activities begun in the first stage, and adding Bangladesh and Pakistan as PEER countries. PEER Stage 2 will be completed by March 2009. The PEER program conducts training on three principal courses: the Medical First Responder (MFR), Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR), and Hospital Preparedness for Emergencies (HOPE).
