Grant Description

The purpose of the Santa Clara River Reserve project is to build a multi-functional station to provide facilities, infrastructure and an institutional framework to carry out environmental studies and natural resource policy research that integrates existing information with newly acquired data to support conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem processes, primarily as it relates to large-scale restoration of riparian ecosystems. The ultimate restoration will help to compensate for the natural resource injuries from the ARCO oil spill. The Reserve system is managed by the University of California. The total project cost is $625,000 that will be allocated in one-year increments over the five year period of the agreement. The first year’s award is $125,000.
