Grant Description
The Ocean Beach Park Boardwalk Project will be implemented by the County of Santa Barbara’s Parks Department and will involve the construction of a boardwalk along the northern and eastern perimeter of the existing parking lot at Ocean Beach Park. The boardwalk will feature an interpretive kiosk that will provide information relating to environmental issues, seabird identification and natural habitats. The purpose of the project is to provide an opportunity for viewing wildlife and habitat at Ocean Beach Park located at the Santa Ynez River mouth in Santa Barbara County, CA, and to allow the public the opportunity to learn about the importance of maintaining this invaluable natural resource. This project will provide compensation for lost and diminished beach use as a result of the Torch/Platform Irene oil spill. The anticipated period of performance is five years. Contribution of $43,920 of in-kind match will be made for equipment, labor, and interpretive signage.
