Grant Description
This Funding Announcement is not a request for applications. This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service (NPS), intention to fund the following project activities without competition. OVERVIEW The Academic Consortium is a group of six universities, including Indiana University - Eppley, that have partnered to develop and present a combined curriculum titled “Leadership for Public Lands and Cultural Heritage” for resource management organizations, governmental bureaus, state and local institutions and students at universities from around the world to develop their resource stewardship leadership skills. Funds will be provided by the National Park Service to Indiana University – Eppley to distribute to the members of the Consortium, in accordance with the approved budget, for their role in the development of the certificate program, presentation of curriculum and registration requirements. STATEMENT OF JOINT OBJECTIVES/PROJECT MANAGEMENT PLAN The National Park Service will provide financial assistance to Indianan University – Eppley to enable them to partner effectively in sharing resources to allow the independent members of the Academic Consortium to develop curricula for their individual portions of the course of study. RECIPIENT INVOLVEMENT Indiana University – Eppley will distribute a specified sum to each of the universities in the consortium in accordance with the approved budget for the sole purpose of their use in completing the course development and registration requirements to launch the first cohort of the “Leadership for Public Lands and Cultural Heritage” course of study in August, 2010. Indiana University – Eppley will oversee and manage the project to ensure completion. Indiana University – Eppley has a proven record of working in partnership with other educational institutions to accomplish mutual projects and programs, and is also a cooperating member of the Academic Consortium, a six-member organization working to develop an independent course of study titled “Leadership for Public Lands and Cultural Heritage”. NATIONAL PARK SERVICE INVOLVEMENT The National Park Service will provide extensive advice and input to Indiana University – Eppley and the Academic Consortium to support their efforts through discussions of the broad scope of development needs that leaders from resource management organizations, governmental bureaus, state and local institutions require to accomplish their work as well as to students at universities from around the world. The NPS will also provide individuals to work on committees discussing program oversight, delivery and content.
