Grant Description

This Funding Announcement is not a request for applications. This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service (NPS), intention to fund the following project activities without competition. OVERVIEW The objective of this Agreement is to carry out, in part, the directives of Congress enumerated in Section 403(b) & (c) of the National Historic Preservation Act (16 U.S.C. 470) which are to: • Develop and distribute preservation and conservation skills and technologies for the identification, evaluation, conservation, and interpretation of prehistoric and historic resources; • Develop and facilitate training for Federal, State, and local resource preservation professionals, cultural resource managers, maintenance personnel and others working in the preservation field; • Take steps to apply preservation technology benefits from ongoing research by other agencies and institutions; • Facilitate the transfer of preservation technology among Federal agencies, state, and local governments, universities, international organizations, and the private sector; • Cooperate with related international organizations including, but not limited to, the International Council on Monuments, and Sites, the International Center for the Study of Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property, and the International Council on Museums; and, • Carry out these mandates through research, professional training, technical assistance, and programs for public awareness and through a program of grants. STATEMENT OF JOINT OBJECTIVES Commit funds, resources, offices, time, and professional staff to projects and undertakings of joint interest in furtherance of the goals of this cooperative agreement in conducting research, training and outreach including, but not limited to, such activities as: research, report preparation, course development, training, symposia, conferences, distance learning, publications, and meetings. RECIPIENT INVOLVEMENT Provide space and facilities on an ''as needed" basis and for public meetings, lectures, training, or social functions. Provide assistance and support in designing, editing, preparing, and distributing both general and technical publications on Center programs, joint NSU/Center undertakings, and operations. Provide to all full and part-time staff of NCPTT all benefits afforded to NSU faculty and staff, such as but not limited to use of NSU laboratory space, parking, sports and recreation facilities, faculty club and dining, security, library use, etc. NATIONAL PARK SERVICE INVOLVEMENT Work together with NSU to develop projects, undertakings, and initiatives in furtherance of the goals of this cooperative agreement. Commit funds, resources, offices, time, and professional staff to projects and undertakings of joint interest in furtherance of the goals of this cooperative agreement in conducting research, training and outreach including, but not limited to, such activities as: research, report preparation, course development, training, symposia, conferences, distance learning, publications, and meetings. To undertake joint projects and research with NSU in furtherance of the goals of this Agreement. If intellectual property is contemplated as an outcome of the joint project or research, such joint projects or research shall be undertaken pursuant to a modification to this Agreement. The modification shall include a specific statement of work and allocation of intellectual property rights and ownership. Assist with course instruction as mutually agreed upon by NSU and NPS.
