Grant Description
NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD: This funding announcement is not a request for applications or proposals. This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Serviceуs intent to award a non-competitive Cooperative Agreement in accordance with Department of Interior, 505 Departmental Manual 2.12C. This agreement provides funding for a residential in-service workshop for teachers. The theme of the workshop will be making the Civil War relevant to 21st century students. 1. By entering into the Cooperative Agreement with the Association the NPS will be able to bring Civil War scholars of the highest renown to the workshop and Park units to assist teachers with developing base knowledge and new methods to educate students on the significance of the Civil War. 2. Workshop attendees will visit multiple Park units throughout the state and be better able to relate the significance of these sites to their students. 3. Workshop attendees will develop curriculum based on Department of Education benchmark standards for use in their classrooms and at the NPS sites.
