NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD - The National Park Service, Mount Rainier National Park is announcing a notice of intent to award; this is not a request for applications. This funding opportunity is to provide public notice of Mount Rainier's intention to fund the following project activities without full and open competition, under Cooperative Agreement P11AC80257, with the Washington Conservation Corps (WCC) for a project titled Washington Conservation Corps Maintenance Crews. These projects consist of the following: This work will consist of Campground Rehabilitation work. Campsites will be delineated and re-graded to improve drainage. The crew will repair or build picnic tables and fire grates and install logs as curbing for campsite delineation. This project work will also include the rehabilitation of a comfort station at a high elevation camp. This project requires camping at the job site in an alpine zone. Camping supplies and tools will be flown to the work site at 10,000 foot elevation on Mount Rainier. WCC crew will hike to site with NPS personnel. This project includes on the job training in carpentry, concrete work and utility trench work. This project will require experience in living and working in an alpine environment. Trail maintenance and rehabilitation projects will occur in the Paradise area of the park. Routine trail maintenance will require identifying snow covered trails, removing snow to aid in melt out process, cleaning drains and correcting drainage issues. Rehabilitation will consist of grading freshly milled asphalt or new crushed rock in preparing for asphalt installation, installation of culverts and building rock retaining walls.
