This is a "Notice of Intent" of a single source task agreement award to the Missouri State Univesity, Springfield, MO under the Great Rivers Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU). The collaborative undertaking proposed by Missouri State University evolved from an ongoing partnership with the Heartland Network to implement vital signs monitoring (see J2106-04-0085), and provides the opportunity to closely integrate fire effects monitoring efforts by co-locating NPS and University staff on campus. Further, Missouri State University has demonstrated the expertise, facilities, experience, diversity of programs, and history of collaborative research projects within the region.

Grant Description

The purpose of this agreement is to research and monitor the effects of prescribed fire in NPS units in the central Great Plains by integrating existing data with new monitoring data so that managers have science-based information to assess the efficacy of their prescribed fire programs.
