This is a "Notice of Intent" of a single source task agreement award to the University of Vermont, Burlington, VT under the Great Lakes Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU). This cooperator is a member of a research team that has received funding USGS to develop an integrated phenology monitoring protocol for the National Park Service. The cooperator's lab has been developing tools and procedures for acoustic monitoring of wildlife, from data collection through analysis and archiving. The specific expertise of this cooperator, combined with the significant cost-share represented by the existing funding, as well as a Ph.D. student funded through a fellowship, makes the PI uniquely qualified to conduct this research prject. The PI has decades of experience studying wildlife. The PI has particular interest in population dynamics, population modeling, landscape ecology, and conservation biology. An important aspect of the PI's work is ensuring that scientific results are available for use by resource managers, policy makers, and community stakeholders.
