Grant Description
Cooperative Agreement H4507070013 was entered into by the National Parks Service (NPS) and the Farmington River Watershed Association. On August 26, 1994 Congress amended the National Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (PL 90-542) to include 14 miles of the Farmington River in Connecticut as a component of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. The law specified that the designated river area be managed in accordance with the Upper Farmington River Management Plan which calls upon the National Park Service to enter into Cooperative Agreements with members of the Farmington River Coordinating Committee to implement the intent of the designation and Plan. The Farmington River Watershed Association is a member of the Farmington River Coordinating Committee and has been designated by the Committee as the fiscal agent for the FRCC, and so authorized to enter into cooperative agreements with the NPS on behalf of the FRCC.
