Grant Description
The purpose of the National Institute of Justice Research, Evaluation, and Development Projects Grants program is to encourage and support research, development, and evaluation to improve criminal justice policy and practice in the United States. With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals for research and technology development addressing the following three areas as described in the Program-Specific Information section of this solicitation: 1. Causes of on-the-job injuries to law enforcement and corrections officers that result in permanent disabilities. 2. Nonmetallic handcuffs. 3. Tripwire detection and marking. Authorizing Legislation: Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (sections 201 and 202); Homeland Security Act of 2002 (section 232).
