This is a notice of intent to award Nez Perce Tribe (NPT) up to $734,687 under justification 505 DM2.14 (B4). The Water Resources Development Act of 1976, Public Law 94-587 and Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, 16 U.S.C. 661-666 authorizes and directs the US Fish & Wildlife Service, Lower Snake River Compensation Plan Office (LSRCP) to work with other State and Federal agencies, Indian tribes to develop and implement a program to evaluate survival and harvest of fish release on the lower Snake River. NPT is uniquely qualified as they work within the LSRCP facilities in the states of Idaho, Oregon and Washington.

Grant Description

Facilitate the cooperation of the US Fish & Wildlife Service, Lower Snake River Compensation Plan Office (LSRCP) and the Nez Perce Tribe (NPT) in accomplishing the purposes and objectives of the LSRCP within the states of Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. It provides for specified interchange of services, personnel, equipment, facilities and funds in order to accomplish LSRCP objectives through monitoring and evaluating, operation and maintenance (O&M), and Harvest Monitoring: 1. Fish production at and distribution from LSRCP facilities in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington; 2. Adult fish returning to Idaho, Oregon, and Washington which were produced at LSRCP facilities in past years; 3. Wild or natural stocks (and their habitats) which have or will have an effect on achieving the LSRCP program objectives; 4. Through assisting with operations of LSRCP facilities in NE Oregon; and 5. Coordinate and participate in fish culture of Imnaha spring Chinook.
