Grant Description
Description of Program and/or Project a. Background: BLM recognizes the importance of vegetation management. Healthily functioning plant communities will maintain and enhance a sustainable level of social and economic benefits on public lands. Understanding the potential impacts on public lands plant communities, will help effectively manage resources and other activities so they improve conditions and help achieve objectives for BLM and potential partner. Botanical inventory and rare native plants monitoring is part of BLM___s mission to maintain a continuing inventory of all resources and other values on public lands. Keeping inventory and monitoring current to reflect changes in conditions over time, may provide adaptive management implementation plans to resources. b. Objectives: The BLM seeks the opportunity to work with local communities, businesses, organizations, and local, state, and federal agencies that live, work and benefit in Arizona State for the purpose of: 1. To conserve natural resources 2. To conserve native species diversity and richness 3. To improve wildlife habitat 4. To increase landscape resiliency 5. To decrease high wildfire severity events 6. To connect with local communities to the environment through partnerships, education, outreach, support, and restoration activities. Developing a botanical inventory and monitoring process will provide streamlining data more efficiently. Updating native botanical plant list for each field office will provide better resource data and restoration projects. Identifying native plants and communities will provide better development projects for restoration and rehabilitation across the landscape.
