Grant Description

Background: Each year the various climate science entities in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho hold a 2-3 day conference to disseminate the latest findings on climate and climate change science to land managers, both public and private, regulatory agencies, and students. The conference allows researchers to share best practices and new information with each other. Conference hosting typically rotates between Oregon State University, the University of Washington, and the University of Idaho (U of ID will host the 2015 conference). The BLM and other Federal agencies support the conference in order to stimulate attendance and reach the widest potential audience. Objective: Support the annual Northwest Climate Science Conference in order to stimulate attendance and reach the widest potential audience with current climate change-related information. Public Benefit: Support of the conference allows attendees to gain new and updated climate information potentially useful in aiding planning efforts to increase climate change resiliency and adaptation in both the public and private sectors. Target audience includes policy and decision makers, resource managers, scientists from other disciplines, tribal land planners, and non-governmental organizations.
