Grant Description
Project Background Information: Restoration along the lower Colorado and Gila River is a goal many stakeholders have been working together on for many years. Major stakeholders include the Bureau of Land Management; Bureau of Reclamation; U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service; U.S. Customs and Border Patrol; Army Corp of Engineers; Arizona Game and Fish Department; Monte Lee Farms; and Pratt Farms. The river land status is a checkerboard of ownership, where landscape restoration is only possible through collaborative partnerships. Some projects involve over 20 stakeholders, where others involve only 5. Landscape restoration is a proven technique for improving wildlife habitat and breeding grounds throughout the river systems.
