Grant Description
To understand and protect rare, unique and important species and the habitats that occur on public lands in the Pacific Northwest. Collect and conserve germplasm (seeds, bulbs, etc) from plants in long term ex-situ storage. Perform research on the collection, storage, propagation, and testing on rare and uncommon species germplasm in the face of unprecedented changes in habitat from human development and climate change. To include scientific monitoring of populations to further manÀs understanding of the diversity of life on this earth. The program will, also, create educational materials, guides, assessments, and programs to educate scientists and the public of the importance of maintaining diversity in the natural world.
