Grant Description
The BLM, Lower Potomac Field Station (LPFS) is implementing the DOI and BLM youth initiatives through multiple channels. This project will develop partnerships and at the same time provide a summer program for at risk and disadvantaged inner city children. These students will learn about BLMÀs mission, BLM work and explore local public lands. In addition, students will be introduced to healthy lifestyles. A number of overnight camp outs will be conducted at the LPFS and National Park Service sites. Students may participate in workshops that could include topics such as: the importance of clean air, protecting the watershed, tree planting, basic care of horses, introduction to horse back riding, fishing, and ÀCatch and ReleaseÀ environmental recycling.
