Grant Description
Bootstraps is an established employment program for young adults who are not in school and are not working. It is a collaborative program between a recipient and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Battle Mountain District Office to accomplish natural resource projects on public lands while teaching work skills and job responsibility. The joint objectives of the project are: 1) to provide program participants with life and job skills, a positive, income earning experience, opportunities for further employment or higher education and an awareness of public land resources and stewardship 2) to forge strong positive relationships between the BLM and the local community 3) to provide local employers with an expanded and experienced entry level work force and 4) to enhance habitat for wildlife, with an emphasis on sage grouse and other special status species.
